Glass Repair Las Vegas
Getting glass repair in Las Vegas isn’t as easy as you might think.
I recently had a gentleman who called me on a Friday afternoon at about 4pm and he told me that he had called 6 places before calling me and none of them answered the phone. I guess the glass shops close up early on a Friday afternoon.
But even still getting glass fixed still has many obstacles. For one, it is almost always a 2-trip process. Even with single pane glass repair, you may find something at the jobsite that needs to be addressed and will require a second trip. However, nowadays, most windows are dual pane and that always requires 2 trips.
On the first trip, the technician comes out to measure the glass for production. Then once the insulated glass unit is ready, the installers comes out to install the window.
If you figure a glass company doing glass repair in Las Vegas, has to cover an area from Railroad Pass to Mt. Charleston, that is a huge area to cover. So most likely the measure portion of the glass repair will need to be scheduled when a technician is in your area. Scheduling the installers is a bit easier since they set that schedule for installations with plenty of time to arrange but the initial measure is usually done the same day or the next day so it a bit trickier.
Also, there are lots and lots of different kinds of glass and lots of different kinds of options. There are too many to get into in this blog post but let me give you a quick example. The metal dividers between the glass are called grids. Normally they are flat and are 5/8” wide. But they come in 1/2″ and 3/4″ as well.
However, I came across a window that had milgard 1” sculptured grids between the glass. The customer needed the glass replaced but the sculptured grids are hard to find, and they also need a special tool to miter the cuts so you can make the pattern. MIlgard doesn’t sell to the public, and none of their authorized dealers do glass repair, only complete windows.
So, as you can see glass repair Las Vegas isn’t as easy as you might think. Most customers think you can just pick up the phone and later that day somebody comes and fixes the glass, but it just isn’t that simple, there is always something when it comes to getting your glass fixed so please be patient.
